Teacher Spotlight

This month’s Marked Tree School District teacher spotlight is Karly Shannon.  Ms. Shannon graduated from Arkansas State University with a degree in Elementary Education. She is currently working towards her Master's in Special Education. At this time, Ms. Shannon is teaching special education at M.T.E.S.  This is 1st year teaching. She has two cats, Johnny Cash and Knight Lancealot, who she loves dearly.  Cash is a very big cat, weighing in at 22 pounds.

Ms. Shannon entered education because she wanted to be loving role model in children's lives.  She feels that children spend most of their day at school with people who they need to be able to trust to teach them to be functioning member of society and to be someone that loves their students and can be loved by their students.  Contributing to their education and being a positive role model is one way to give back to our children and create a better future for us all..  This is evident by her desire to excel and her commitment to her students, according to her principal.  When Ms. Shannon isn’t working on improving our students, she like to read, practice yoga, and travel o new historical places.

Ms. Shannon’s favorite quote is a famous lyric that many of our readers will know.

All you need is love.

Please welcome Ms. Shannon to Marked Tree!
