We are proud to announce that MTHS has received the Highly Effective School Accreditation. This accreditation is a significant achievement that reflects Marked Tree High School’s commitment to reaching and maintaining the highest levels of educational quality. Marked Tree High School earned this accreditation by maintaining and growing identified areas having the biggest impact on student learning and growth. These areas are directly aligned to the Professional Learning Communities at Work® (PLC) process and the High Reliability SchoolsTM (HRS) framework. MTES earned their accreditation earlier in this year. This makes MTSD one of the few districts in Arkansas to have all of its school accredited. Conquer and Prevail.

We hope everyone had a wonderful break! School resumes on Wednesday. Here is what is happening this week at MTSD… Monday- No school. Tuesday- No school. All basketball teams play in MT. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:00. Wednesday- School resumes. Thursday- Jr. and Sr. Boys play Cross County in MT. Tipoff is 6:00. Friday- Elementary wears tribe colors. All basketball teams travel to Maynard. Tipoff at 4:00. If your child is COVID positive or has been identified as a close contact, please call us at (870) 375-2266 during business hours on Monday or Tuesday. Thursday, Dec. 23- Our boys will play in the NEA Tourney. Tipoff is at 6:00. They will play the winner of EPC/Cedar Ridge. Congrats to our Jr. Girls for a big win over Salem tonight by a score of 41-20. Best game they have played this season! What an awesome way to head into the break! Conquer and Prevail!

Girls of Promise Conference, an initiative of the Women’s Foundation of Arkansas, exposes girls to opportunities and mentors in STEAM fields. GoP has the goal of increasing the number of women in higher-level STEAM courses, careers and putting them on the path to achieving economic security as women. The Conference is geared toward 8th-grade girls interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math in Arkansas! The girls learn about various STEAM careers, enhancing their skills, and meeting women mentors excelling in their fields. Girls interested in registering need to see Bobbie Pharis. Parents, Earlier this morning, a bank in town was robbed. When we were notified, we initiated an external lockdown. This means no one is allowed to enter or exit the building We are still currently in this lockdown and will stay that way until notified by local law enforcement that we are safe. Please know that the students are fine! We are sorry for the delay in notification. However, we wanted to ensure the safety of our children first. We will notify you when the lockdown is lifted.

Parents, With a chance of significant weather moving in tonight, we will have our storm shelters open. However, the elementary storm shelter will not be open to the public until 9:00 p.m. at the earliest. We have a basketball game tonight and the elementary storm shelter will be used for students and families at our basketball game.
