The high school will be having an ACT Bootcamp when we return from fall break. While your student might not plan on attending college, remind them they might change their mind. Happy Labor Day! We hope everyone is enjoying some time off. We have a big game this week with our rival! Prior to the game, we will have a #markedtree2030 tailgate party at the elementary cafeteria. The start time will be at 5:30 and we will have a brief meeting at 6:00. Come help create a vision for our community! Our after-school program will begin this week. We have over 100 kids signed up! We have a big week coming up! On Tuesday, we will have parent teacher conferences! We will be serving lasagna in both cafeterias. We would love for you to come eat with us! A couple of weeks ago, the school was involved with the city in reviewing plans for potential storms or emergency situations. One way to get notified of storms through the county is to subscribe to Code Red. Poinsett County implemented the CodeRED system, which is a high-speed emergency notification service. During the school day tomorrow, we will practice our lockdown procedures. You might want to send time visiting with your child to let them know what will be taking place. The Arkansas State Police, Poinsett County Sheriff’s Office, Marked Tree Police, and other law enforcement agencies will be on hand to provide feedback during the drills. Unfortunately, this is the world in which we live. However, we are working hard to take the steps to keep our students safe!

The Spirit Rally for tonight is being postponed. It will be on Monday, August 28th at 6:00 p.m. The weather should be significantly cooler. This creates a safer environment for all participants! Thank you for understanding!

Extracurriculars are in full swing and we have a Pep Rally this week! Come watch our band, cheerleaders, and football team this week at our 1st home game of the year! We hope you get to come out and join us! Here is your “This Week at MTSD!” Last week, our homecoming opponent cancelled their game with us. We are moving homecoming and working out the details. Are you ready to help make a difference in our community? Do you want to be involved in helping our educational system, helping find potential jobs, working to improve our housing, and trying to create quality of life experiences for our community? If so, come join us at the elementary cafeteria for a tailgate party on August 24th at 5:00 p.m. We will have tailgate food from 5:00-5:30 and then a quick meeting to share a new initiative called #markedtree2030. This will be followed immediately by the jr. high scrimmage! Mon.- Tennis @ Allen Park vs Ridgefield Christian and EPC at 4:00 Tues.- Golf @ Manila at 3:30.
